Today, it is not that. Today is 13,000 witnesses in one country, over five months, describing the same craft, and then a government that did something almost no government has ever done. It stood in front of cameras and said out loud, we tracked it, we chased it, but we don't know what it is. This is 13,000 witnesses, two F-16s, and no explanation. It's the Belgian UFO wave, and it is one of the most extraordinary.

since you're so excited and I don't want you to wet yourself anymore, let's get right into today's report. All right. It's November 1989. The Berlin Wall just came down. Europe is in the middle of one of the most historically chaotic months of the 20th century and in the skies over Belgium, something else entirely is happening.
Cold War is ending in real time and on the 9th, the Berlin Wall falls.
And on the 29th, 20 days later, two Belgian federal police officers named Heinrich Nicole and Hubert von Montigny are on routine patrol over Youpen.
A small city close to the German border in eastern Belgium.
At around 530 in the evening, they see something that stops their car.
hovering over a field to their right, a large triangular craft was silent. It was moving extremely slow, slower than any aircraft either man had ever seen. And there were three brilliant white spotlights pointing toward the ground from the corners of the triangle, a pulsing red beacon at the center.
Officer Nichol later said the craft was so intensely lit that you could have read a newspaper beneath it. They watched it for 30 minutes, they called it in, and other units responded, and multiple officers from multiple positions observed the same craft that same night. Over the course of the evening, reports came in from across the region.
the craft was seen near Liege and just across the German border and at multiple points across eastern Belgium. And that was just the beginning.
So from November 29th, 1989 through the spring of 1990, the Belgian UFO wave unfolded across the entire

And witnesses came from every demographic, farmers, teachers, police officers, military personnel, air traffic controllers, entire families.

The descriptions were strikingly consistent. Triangular craft, silent or nearly silent, slow moving at low altitude, three lights at the corners, one at the center, occasionally hovering.

Now, the Belgian government took this seriously enough to task the Belgian Air Force with investigating the Belgian Society for the Study of Space Phenomena, known as SOBEPs, worked alongside military investigators, interviewing witnesses and cross-referencing reports. Nobody panicked and nobody claimed alien contact, but people just kept
seeing the same thing and reporting it.
at around 11 p.m. on March 30th, 1990, Belgian Air Force radar stations began tracking an unknown object over central Belgium. Ground radar at Glons and Sumerzak, two NATO-linked radar installations, confirmed the contact, and the object was real and it was there. So what followed over the next hour was one of the most documented UFO pursuit sequences in history.
because the F-16s were equipped with onboard radar and the data was totally recorded. So the pilots locked onto the object and the object was tracked at approximately 150 miles per hour, slow for a military aircraft, normal for the triangular craft witnesses had seen describing for months. Then it wasn't slow anymore. The object accelerated from 150 miles per hour to over 1100 miles per hour in seconds.

It dropped in altitude from 3000 feet to 750 feet in a single movement. And then it climbed again and it disappeared from radar and the pilots lost contact. They reacquired it and then it happened

And over the course of approximately one hour, the F-16 crews achieved nine radar lock-ons. Nine times the object executed the same evasive sequence. The sudden acceleration, the altitude change, the disappearance and nine
times this
The pilots never achieved a visual.

object was gone before they could close the distance. And then what happened next is almost without precedent in the history of UFO cases. The Belgian Air Force held a public press conference, but not to dismiss the reports, not to offer a cover explanation,
to present the radar data, describe the F-16 engagement, and state plainly that they could not explain what they had tracked.
Standing at the press conference was Major General Wilfred de Brouwer, the chief operations officer of the Belgian Air Force. And he walked the through the radar recordings. He described the performance characteristics of the object. He confirmed the nine radar locks and the nine unexplained accelerations. And he said, we don't know what this is.
de Brouwer did not walk that back. Not then, and he didn't do it ever.
He maintained that the Belgian UFO wave involved real unidentified craft that performed beyond any known technology. And he gave interviews, he spoke at conferences and he was consistent for over 30 years.
During the wave of photograph emerged from a small town called Petite Richelin, a clear color image of a triangular craft with three lights and a central glow.
taken by a man named Patrick ⁓ who wished to remain anonymous and the image circulated widely and became the defining visual of the Belgian wave.
However, in 2011, a man came forward and said he had made the object in the photograph out of Styrofoam for a joke and he demonstrated how he had done it. So the photograph was a hoax, but that was something that pushed this story to the forefront as well.

So all right. So what was not faked in this situation? According to reports, there's 13,000 witness reports to NATO radar stations to f 16 onboard radar systems, nine documented lock ons, ⁓ major general de Brouwer on the record for 30 years. So yes, the photograph was fake, but that does not explain any of the other things.
All right. So the Belgian UFO wave is different from every other case in the record in one specific way.
In every other case, the government's response is silence, right? Generally denial or a cover explanation. The Belgian government's response was, well, here's the data. Here's what we tracked. Here's what we don't understand. And we're telling you that on the record. So
that is the Belgian wave report as I know it. And now Andrew, I'm going to hand it off to you. Let's dive into some other details and then the three of us will decide whether we think.

what made this case so cool was that we have three layers of detection of this vessel, right? So we've got ground radar, which is basically air traffic control and military. Then we have the onboard radar of the F-16s.
And then we have visual sightings. So that's three huge areas that usually are not covered when we investigate these reports. Yeah. Yep.

pilots report, you know, obtaining, mentioned nine radar locks on the targets. So a lock means that the radar identified a coherent target, that there actually was something there. And then the system can track range, speed and altitude.

Most locks last only a few seconds and then the targets are lost quickly. So that stays into the story, right? They said that they were there and then, boop.
It was gone. So that maintains fact of how radar works. Nine times. So it wasn't just the F-16s locking onto it. The ground radar was locking onto it as well. Trouble, and then people seeing it, triple, it's a, it's it's a hat trick. They just did a hat trick, right?

So you're talking about readouts on the radar that showed altitude changes from 10,000 feet to 500 feet in a matter of seconds. Acceleration spiking, they reported it up to Mach 5, which is actually 3,800 miles per hour. That's insane. Right, right.

you can get from false jumps. instant acceleration, ⁓ impossible turns can appear, sudden altitude drops, that can happen with brief locks. So we wanna keep that in mind too, that there are problems with radar.

right, but despite that, despite that, it doesn't happen nine times, right? And the pilots never maintained a stable or a long duration lock. So that's why I'm bringing that up, right? No object was smoothly tracked over time because smoothly means you see it flip, flip, flip, flip, flip, flip, flip, flip, flip, It was like here and then here and then here and then here.

what's the fact that comes up in all of this though is that you had mentioned this and I'm gonna reiterate it. There was no visual confirmation from the pilots themselves during intercepting these vehicles. This is huge. They never saw the ship, only on the radar. There's something ahead of us, right? There's a bogey ahead of us. We don't see it, but there's something ahead of us.

It's maintaining our speed at 150 miles an hour and then, my God, it's gone, right? So the people on the ground saw it visually on the ground. The people.

they go up and they're like, hey, it's over here. They give them the latitude, longitude or whatever they use the aeronautics to get them to that area. And they're like, yeah, but I've got something on my radar. I don't see anything yet. And then I've got a lock. I still don't see it yet. And then it's gone. So there was no evidence of a structural craft. It was only confirmed by radar alone.

So like visually in the sky for pilots is it similar to trying to find someone on a lifeboat in the ocean? You know, I wonder I I don't know. they can they can basically hide their own aircraft by saying they're over here over there rather than over here. And then they create these these imaginary ships or whatever you're tracking on radar. And it's fake. It's almost like ⁓ hologram.

that appears on your radar and then that makes them go to that in a sense. And then they attack in a different direction because they're not on radar.

and then for multiple targets, which is basically what this was, you because you think about it, it's here, and then it jumps to here and it's gone. And then all of sudden it's over here. So the radar may have a hard time switching between the objects. And that can also happen because of weather phenomenon or ground reflections or apparent sudden motion that's not there. So electronic interference can happen. So brief signal disruptions can mimic

A ship moving at that speed or acceleration spikes, altitude changes. It can do all of that. But what we cannot deny is that the radar data is real, but it's not straightforward, but it is real. So

And whether it was a single physical object that caused this or were there several objects.

So they're saying what's odd is the extreme speed and the maneuvers. That's interesting. So that would make them say, okay, this may not, this is not a false reading because of the, the, the way it is behaving, because if it was a false reading, probably more than likely, they don't indicate ⁓ extreme speed and the maneuvers that they were doing. So that's probably what they're saying here. So that's, that's in that case. Okay. All right. Good. Good. Good stuff.

I looked up the
⁓ difficulty of seeing things. Seeing things in the ocean is more difficult just because of all the factors, especially light. Light reflection is a huge thing, but pilots in the air, it's surprisingly difficult for them to see things because empty background, like clear sky could actually equal poor depth perception. So not understanding how close something is to you.

the waves and the white caps and reflection, sure.

or not, which I think is interesting. Small objects,

Yeah, and traveling at the speeds they travel.

small objects are really hard to see. ⁓ And motion is really important because humans are good at detecting motion mostly. But yeah, and then the lighting and glares is similar to the ocean thing. I mean, yeah, I guess with the sun and stuff.

Okay. That makes sense. And do we get a sense on radar as the size of something?

does not give, there isn't, you can't detect the size of it. mean, I would imagine the blip would appear bigger is what I would guess, but if it's moving at that speed, you're not gonna be able to measure the size of the craft.

Yeah, it doesn't say it says radar doesn't give you a clean. This object is 30 feet wide readout. It just gives you a return signal.

here's something that we need to think about. this happened in 1989, right, in 1990. So the Northrop B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber was unveiled in November 22, 1988. Right? It came from California. It made its first public flight on July 17,

And it entered operational service for the Navy and the Air Force in 1997. It was made in California, in Palmdale, California.

none of these things can actually move like this thing moved on radar. Now people on the ground didn't see it flying like that. They just saw it in the sky. We have to take that into consideration too. They didn't see it, they saw it flying across the sky, but there wasn't like, well, that's moving at about 2,800 miles an hour. It just went from that cloud to that cloud. Let me get my notebook out.
